Installing Webin 1.995 in debian 10 system cause crash of webmin itself and prevents from installing further updates either by using webmin or root update through ssh. The system installs but is working unstable. We are going to remove all webmins installed - 23 servers with CentOS and Debian - cause we feel is not a secure system. When do you plan to fix the bug or launch another version ?

    Hello,

    Sorry about that!

This is a know bug. Although, it has nothing to do with being not secure. Webmin simply stops itself during the update. The work around would be is to re-run upgrades from the console. This is unpleasant but it does no actual harm!

This is going to be fixed with Webmin 1.996 and all further upgrades will work as expected, considering that Webmin was restarted correctly after 1.996 upgrade.

Tell us more please - from which version you were installing 1.995 upgrade? It looks that you didn't have Webmin 1.994 when running upgrade to 1.995?

Hi, thanks for the quick answer.

We were updating from 1.994, Debian 10.

If anyone is interested, we did following :

      sudo apt-get clean

      sudo apt-get update

      sudo apt-get install --reinstall webmin

      Then system asks to run

sudo dpkg --configure -a (which should be the first you do, anyway just
to follow the correct sequence of orders)

      And it gets fixed.

For the time being we will keep webmin, but expecting for 1.996 !

      Thanks and best regards,

      Xavier
