I updated to 1.994, ever since I cant access webmin.

I get

"ERROR — PERL EXECUTION FAILED
Undefined subroutine &WebminCore::init_config called at /usr/local/webmin/gray-theme/gray-theme-lib.pl line 7.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/webmin/blue-theme/index.cgi line 5."

I tried on several browsers, same result. Tried restarting service, same issue

changed the theme to authentic, now getting this

    ERROR — PERL EXECUTION FAILED
Undefined subroutine &main::init called at /usr/local/webmin/authentic-theme/authentic-lib.pl line 33.

Can anybody help please? My server provider has no clue

It looks that something is broken during the install. Can you share Webmin config and miniserv.conf file for us to have a closer look?

Also, it's recommended to use deb/rpm package instead of installing from source.

      Hi

Thanks for this, I have attached both.

I tried installing RPM and I had invalid RPM message. Deb didn’t work either, so did it through tar.

      Thanks

      J

It looks that you're on CentOS 5? Recent versions of Webmin require newer version of Perl to run.

This is not safe to use OS that has been EOL for the past ten years.

Can I upgrade Centos ? So it cant be fixed ? Or can I update perl ? I’m desperate

Which version of webmin shall I use for the moment ?
    Thanks

The best and fastest wouod be (in my opinion) is to clean re-install either AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux.

Haha sorry for the bad English.what is the shell command to make a backup please ? Also is it easier to downgrade to 1.993? In this case do you also have the shelll for this too?

I don't expect Webmin 1.993 work while 1.994 not. There must be something else.

If you're using CentOS 5 -- you have to upgrade.

In this case do you also have the shelll for this too?

No, no. Not a good idea don't do this! But downgrade must be as easy as yum downgrade webmin.

I also wonder, if running /etc/webmin/restart-by-force-kill changes anything?

what is the shell command to make a backup please

I would simply just use File Manager to tar main directories, like /etc, /var, /home, /root, /usr/local and have them locally stored and later figured if I needed anything after OS upgrade. But at first, save the list of currently installed packages to have a clearer picture what may be needed/missing after re-install by running dnf list |grep @ > /root/install_packages.txt ..

I tried force kill I you recommended it in another post. It didn't change it.

I have access to the ssh I have no clue how to run file manager with command shell. So you wouldn't downgrade? I'm worried upgrading doesn't solve the issue. I think its a them problem. Before upgrading I changed theme and maybe this is the issue?

I managed to install mc file manager. I'm sorry I'm a bit of a beginner I have no clue how to tar the files using mc on ssh
Also where would I need to create the backup? Leaving it on the server?

Do not make it more complicated. Use Webmin / Tools / File Manager module to make those backups (by simply right clicking on a directory and downloading it as archive).

If you cannot start/access recent versions of Webmin, you can downgrade using yum downgrade https://download.webmin.com/download/yum/webmin-1.993-1.noarch.rpm command.
