Can you upgrade if you download the new version's tar.gz file and run setup.sh via SSH ?

Ok we found the cause of this, and will include a fix in the next Webmin release.

Nice. Maybe you can tell in more detail how to update correctly, for ordinary people.

Yes, simply upgrade ../webmin/upgrade.cgi file in your Webmin installation directory and re-run upgrade. It will work.

I'm sorry but it doesn't work.
In the specified directory / usr / local / etc / webmin / webmin / there is only one config. After copying the file to this directory and running the update, nothing works.

Search for miniserv.pl file and you will find Webmin root directory.

      Thanks you. It's work

      As a result:
      1. We are looking for your current installation version, for example webmin-1.960. For FreeBSD, this is in the /usr/local/lib/webmin-1.960/ folder.
      2. There we find the upgrade.cgi file in the ../webmin-1.960/webmin/upgrade.cgi subfolder
      3. Change to the specified file
      4. Launch the update in the web interface.

Not always, as on contrary generally it goes just flawlessly!

That bug is fixed with Webmin 1.970+.

I have the same problems with the update. But already from version 1.62 to 1.70. :(
The solution to the problem remained unchanged.

Because this change was only added with Webmin 1.970. The upgrade file is used beforehand, so the old, un-patched version of the file was used to upgrade to 1.970 and no wonder you hit the same issue.

Upgrades should work just fine with Webmin 1.970+.

can't you just do a version bump to 1.971 so the update works from the GUI again?

Going from 1.960 to 1.970 failing as of 28 Jan 2021. "webmin-1.970 no such file or directory". This issue certainly is not fixed and should not be closed.

It is fixed, but you have to upgrade to 1.970 first to get the fix for future upgrades, sorry.
