Hi Jamie,
there is a problem with the mime data type, webmin sends to the browser, when the user downloads the site backup.tgz (Backup Configuration Files).
Firefox does not identify the mime data type right and so it prompts again an again, what it shall do, open or save, and it does not enable the option to handle this always in the same manner. This happens, when the information sent from the server does not match the mime type. I'm also in firefox forum and so i want to pass this information to you.
BTW the same problem exists for the dowloads of the WEBMIN site.
It would be helpful, if this could be changed.
If you need more info, just let me know.
Cheers mike
In the Firefox forum the think, that Webmin site and also webmin on my server sends
"application/octet-stream" information instead of application/x-gzip.
I'm not very familiar with this mime stuff, so i trust on your knowledge.
Cheers mike
Definitively,
I have verified the data types from Webmin backup.tgz and Webmin site with a network monitor,
they both send the information to the browser about an "application/octet-stream".
This must be "application/x-gzip" instead.
Hope this helps
Cheers mike
Jamie,
it's the file:
usr/share/webmin/backup-config/backup.cgi
in this file there must be replaced:
"application/octet-stream"with "application/x-tgzip" for TGZ-file
On your Webmin site:
"application/octet-stream"with "application/x-gzip" for GZ-file
The attachment is the modified:
usr/share/webmin/backup-config/backup.cgi
That's it.
Cheers mike

Thanks for pointing this out - I'll fix that in the next webmin release.
thanks Jamie,
BTW in the file:
usr/share/webmin/webmin/export_mod.cgi
there is also mime type "application/octet-stream".
I did not check out for which webmin option this file is used.
but if it's for browser download a change would be required to "application/x-gzip".
Please tell me more details.
Cheers mike
Thanks, I'll fix that too
thanks
Cheers mike
