Hello,

need to change configuration in webmin 1.670 such that i can access webmin with the help of ipv6 address.
ran netstat -apn | grep 8080(port used for webmin on centos 6.8) .found that it is listening only on tcp not tcp6? i am also not able to access it with the help of ::1 ipv6 localhost

Did you only recently enable IPv6 on your system? If so, you may need to restart Webmin by running /etc/webmin/restart as root.

    Hello Jamie,

Thnks for the prompt reply!this project is critical to me as i am new to all of this :)Webmin 1.670 is running on centos 6.8 final with perl 5.10.(A COMPLETE NOOB)No, Jamie it was enabled only :) I restarted webmin also but same issue persists:(! What i am trying to do is:
I have two centos vms on same vlan. ping6 is working between them on link-local addresses. I am using elinks command line browser which supports link-local addresses.i am able to access webmin through ipv4 address through elinks. i also ran perl -e "use Socket6" it got executed successfully.Screenshots attached.
1st testcase:i added localhost ipv6 address in host addresses as ::1 (localhost6 localhost6.localdomain6) but still not able to access it.
2nd testcase: I will be accessing it with ipv6 link-local address.
3rd testcase: If above two succeed then will move to global ipv6 address.
It is currently listening on 0.0.0.0. Can it be made ipv6 specific address or ipv6 wildcard address which will enable both ipv4 and ipv6 address to access it. Binding needs to be chaged. looking forward to your reply jamie :) Thanks in advance :)
    i have attached screenshot :)

If you check the log file /var/webmin/miniserv.error , is there any mention of IPv6 among the startup messages?

  • Jay Nimish Ghiya

    Hello Jamie,
It has no messages. It is empty
    I added bind=0::0 field in miniserv.conf!
Restarted webmin!! Error cannot bind to ipv6 address without ipv6 at /usr/libexec/webmin/miniserv.pl at line 464.
seems that value of $use_ipv6 is not getting initialized to 1 .
    error in miniserv.pl file
this is not satisified if($config['ipv6']) it does not go into this loop :( Any ideas ?? please i am running out of time for this project
    Regards,
    Jay

Try adding the line ipv6=1 to the end of your /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf file, then running /etc/webmin/restart
