#4447 Canno't save ProFTPd Configuration

Steven Page

There seems to be a problem saving configuration files, using the ProFTPd module.

I have a file under /etc/proftpd/conf.f/ called "disabled.conf", in which i paste configuration that is commented out, and not in use (in case i were to need it at a later time).

when trying to save the configuration for ProFTPd, I get this error:

Failed to save Networking Options : Configuration verification failed :

Checking syntax of configuration file
rapidwebs proftpd[6495]: Fatal: unknown configuration directive '6452' on line 1 of '/etc/proftpd/conf.d/disabled.conf.lock'
Changes have not been saved.

Is Webmin maybe locking this file, so that it can read or write to it?

My thought was that this lock might need to be released before running "check-config". it might be tripping up proftpd configuration checking command..

Anyways, I just thought that I would bring this to your attention!

Check the include line in your main proftpd.conf file - if it is including all files under /etc/proftpd/conf.d (instead of just *.lock files), you may get this error if it detects a .lock file as a config file.

never thought about that. thanks. I changed it over to /etc/proftpd/conf.d/*.conf and all is well
