No

Ubuntu server 10.04.3 LTS: Virtualmin 3.90.gpl: Webmin 1.570

Server owner cannot change own password via Webmin browser interface. At any attempt, clicking save results in permanent 'No password required' and inability to log back in. Server owner can only change change own password via terminal.

The administrative owner of host (sudoer) can not change server owners' passwords via Webmin browser interface. At any attempt, At any attempt, clicking save results in permanent 'No password required' and inability to log back in, but if 'Change in other modules' is selected, the password will be updated for e.g. mySQL Again, the only way to change the password is via the terminal.

Which page in Webmin are you attempting to make the password change on?

    This comment is incorrect...

"Server owner cannot change own password via Webmin browser interface. At any attempt, clicking save results in permanent 'No password required' and inability to log back in. Server owner can only change change own password via terminal."

The server owner CAN change own password. Error cause by Firefox popup asking to confirm change - have to select cancel instead of confirm.

But it still stands that the host administrator can not change user password via browser.

Why not do the password change by selecting your top-level domain from the left menu, then going to Edit Virtual Server, opening the "Configurable settings" section and using the "Administration password" field?

Or if that doesn't appear, go to "Server Configuration" -> "Change Password"

Thanks Jamie, I really must get some new glasses - I don't know how I missed your first suggestion.

Your second suggestion works also, that's why I corrected my previous posting.

But, is the method depicted in the video expected to fail?

I found a bug that can cause the problem you saw .. I will fix it in the next Virtualmin release.
