#3562 Git repository issue with windows

i tried to check out the source tree on Windows, both with msysGit (get version 1.6.5.1.1367.gcd48) and cygwin (git version 1.6.1.2)
both could not cope with file names that contain *,
such as
acl/config-*-linux
and files that contain :: such as acl/Authen-SolarisRBAC-0.1/blib/man3/Authen::SolarisRBAC.3
