#3523 Cannot create static routes Debian Lenny

When I add a static route to the boot time routes and click the save button it kicks me back to the main networking page and the route is not added to neither the active nor static tables. I'm running Debian Lenny updated to the day. i added routes manually via the command line and they still do not show in case that matters.
