Hi Support,

Today we faced a bug in sendmail filter file.
If any one sents a mail to any group with "rc". filter file enabled the message gets truncated.
For Example:
Body of the message go like this:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear All,

.

Please ignore this is just a test mail.

Regards,
IT
--------------------------------------------------------------------

By accident there was a .[DOT] in between the "Dear All" and " Please ignore this just a test mail" which actualy ending up in truncating the message after the .[DOT] and only Dear All was sent to the group id.

Please fix this bug.

Regards,
Venkat

The above stated bug only affects for group ids with filter file enabled and other mail ids are not having this issue.

How exactly did you setup this filter in Webmin? Was it at Sendmail -> Mail Aliases, or somewhere else?

  • venkat kashinathan

Yes under sendmail --> mail aliases.

Ok .. and when you created the alias, what kind of destination did you select. Was it "Apply filter file", or something else?

  • venkat kashinathan

Yes Jamie it was ' Apply filter file. Also i have attached the screen shot of the filter file.
    please find it.

Ok, I see the problem now .. the line with just a . confuses the SMTP protocol used for sending email. If you change that line to add a space after the . , it will work fine.

The next Webmin release (1.500) will do this automatically.
