AND yes, it is the default created by .deb packages instaled using apt/dpkg/aptitude

So on Debian Etch, if you run 'apt-get install squid' it will install Squid 3 ?

No, when you run apt-get install squid3 then Squid3 is installed, with default location of conf files in /etc/squid and so on ...

Ok .. in that case, Webmin is already doing the correct thing. The default config files paths for all modules assume that you will be running the default versions of various packages - in the case of Squid, it is the version you'd get by running :

    apt-get install squid

Then, you mean Webmin will never support squid3 in Debian distribution ?!?
Because in Etch, when you use apt-get install squid the version installed is 2.6 !
The ONLY way to install squid3 in Etch is using apt-get install squid3, and then THE default path to config files ( and so on ) IS Squid3 !!!!

Webmin will support Squid 3 as the default version, when Debian makes it the default.

Until then, if you have installed the squid3 package you can configure Webmin to use it by clicking on the Module Config link in the Squid module, and adjusting the config file paths to /etc/squid3 and so on..
