Urgent help needed!!!
I was just running a upgrade from inside webmin
using “Latest version from www.webmin.com”
and “Check GnuPG signature on package”.
Latest version 1.160 was downloaded and installation
started. But then a lot of read errors occurred ending
with message:
Failed to write to /etc/webmin/module.infos.cache :
Read-only file system

When I tried to change attribute on the files logged in
as root on the server i get chmod error : Read-only file
system.

NOW THE WHOLE FILE-SYSTEM ON THE SERVER IS
LOCKET IN READ-ONLY STATE
I am logged in as root but cant do anything on the file
system!
Web-servers and other subsystems have stopped.
What can I do, don't know if I should reboot or what???

I'm running a Fedora kernel 2.6.8

Thanks for any suggestion!

/John

I am not quite sure if Webmincan help in that matter.
Maybe you have been the victim of a rootkit somehow?

If possible boot your system using Knoppix (www.knoppix.org)
and try to get access to your file system. If you
cannot "chown" or "chmod" as root, then your system has
    been compromised somehow.

Also, check your /etc/fstab file to make sure the /
    filesystem is not mounted read-only.
Certainly Webmin is not the cause of this, as it never even
changes the read-write attribute on the filesystem or files
    when upgrading!
