Ah yes, that old problem... I need to release the new version of WebFTP, but I still want to finish the templating system. I fixed it by adding close STDERR just before the close STDOUT. Terribly sorry for the long hiatus. Being married AND working AND getting your Master's degree tends to suck away your free time. I am happy to say that I am done with grad school and once again poking around web-ftp. The current thing I am attacking is integrating Template Toolkit with Web-FTP to make web-ftp highly configurable. I forsee this allowing multiple views into web-ftp, the first I am creating is the standard one, of course, but I also am planning a more "My Computer" kind of look as well. Ideally I would also like to create an AJAX interface which uses an advanced javascript/dhtml bridge. No promises on that on however. Once again, sorry for the quiet spell, I hope to make some improvements to Web-FTP to bring it a little more up to date. Thanks. -- www.suave.net - Anthony Ball - an...@su... Hi, i've been searching for a long trying to find a web interface to ftp. Tried Quixplorer, but it's not true FTP; finally found Web-FTP. Well, I downloaded the latest version (2.2.1), and put into Apache 2.0.54's cgi-bin directory. I have perl 5.8.5 in a FreeBSD 5.3 box. Configure the web-ftp.conf file sit into the webftp folder, launch a navigator in another box (firefox in XP) and write the URL http://www.xxx.yyy.zzz/cgi-bin/web-ftp.cgi in the window. The welcome page appeares, and invites me to put the FTP server, and the login data. If the data is wrong, a window says the password is not accepted, but if everything is fine, the navigator gets stucked, and i get no further. Blame it into FreeBSD, I go and do the same process in a Linux RedHat 9 box with Apache 2.0.54 + Perl 5.8.5. The result: the same. Any idea? maybe the problem is Apache? Tried also with Web-FTP 1.5, but got into the same problem. Thanx. |

Well... that is kind of a Net::FTP thing.. not sure if you CAN do it there... where I KNOW you can clear them is in webftp/WebFTPPages.pm There is a line that looks like if($fn) { in the getDirectory subroutine (should be the only place it is in that file. you can change that to if($fn && $fn =~ /^\./) { What this does is skip any file or directory starting with a . which is how unix denotes hidden directories. When I graduate in June I think I will actually be able to do a major overhaul, I will have to add this as an option. Grrr... The problem is between network ACLs and Net::FTP. You're right, one can connect to some servers and others, for example mine (ftp://ftp.eila.jussieu.fr) are blocked. As I never had any problem with any soft CLI or GUI, it could be a problem with the Net::FTP module. Hi all I'm having problems logging into my pure-ftp linux server using web-ftp. I can successfully use an ftp client to connect to the pure-ftp server, but when I use the same parameters with web-ftp, authentication fails on web-ftp. Does web-ftp require the same user details as pure-ftp is set up for (as I would expect)? When I try to enter a Linux username that is not a pure-ftp login, then web-ftp freezes. I have looked through the web-ftp.cgi file and see that there's lots of commenting out of code which I've left untouched. I have specified the ftp host as: FTPhost=localhost. I tried it as the hosts IP address without success. Are there any simple pointers to get this program working? -- Regards Rupert Heesom ================================================================== Looking for world-class toxin free products? ------------------------------------------------------------------ --> personal care, food supplements, general household --> Largest range of products under one roof =================> www.worldclasswellness.org.uk <================ ------> Highlighting <----- www.worldclasswellness.org.uk/furtherinfo.html?tag=drepstein ------> Highlighting <----- ================================================================== |

Read the template help in the docs... you _should_ be able to just stick an embed in there... or something similar. Have you tried using just perl, not using the C interface? On Wed, Aug 04, 2004 at 05:02:43PM +0200, Pascal Cabaud wrote: > Le Wed, Aug 04, 2004 at 10:28:55AM -0400, Anthony R. J. Interesting... web-ftp should complain to the error log if a socket can't be created. If you know any Perl I would say debug it, write some code in to make sure the socket is created and whatnot. Otherwise, if you can give me a temp login where I can try to debug and run it, I can try that.
