Collecting proof of student status was a particularly
time consuming activity for Sue K (ModSim05). 22% of
registrants were students and of these less than 10%
initially provided proof of their student status. In
rough figures, Sue Kelo followed up via email
approximately 100 students to request their proof of
student status, on many occasions multiple messages
were required.

One option to consider is requesting students to
provide a scanned image of their student card or
equivalent as part of the registration form. I would
suggest making the upload of an image a mandatory
field. A second option but not preferred would be the
automatic generation of a email message to student
registrants requesting that a copy of their student
card be faxed or emailed to a specified fax number or
email address.
