#170 Remove GFlags

What and Why

With the recent advent of the Python interface, the use case for the Gflags library becomes more and more remote. Why would you bother writing a program with command-line arguments if you could write a Python script instead?

Dragging the GFlags library along has the disadvantage that we have another dependency that needs to be maintained.

Acceptance criteria

• Remove the GFlags library dependency
