There is something weird about the transfer speeds with
WASTE:
I have done some extensive testing both over internet
and on LAN and the problem is persistant.
Test setup:
3 P4 machines on 10Mbit full duplex internet connections
on different public subnets.
Transfer speeds have been tested and verified with FTP
and Grouper, no problem reaching over 950KB/second up
to 1100KB/second.
The same setup with WASTE (waste-setup-1.5-beta-3-
full-eng.exe) gives a max speed in download window at
about 250-300KB/sec and almost the same in the
Network Status Window.
How come the WASTE speeds are 1/3 of the actual
speed on our connections?
I first thought this could have something to do with the
encryption and decryption, but that can not be the
case since with Grouper (www.grouper.com) that is not
the issue.
Also the connection speeds seem to be very unstable, a
transfer can vary from 50 - 300KB/sec during transfer.
I am happy to help out testing if you need help, but this
issue is something you guys will have to resolve if Waste
is ever going to be a popular software.

There has been much discussion about this on the forums,
I've tried dorking with the FILE_CHUNKSIZE but it caused
download corruption. I don't consider this critical to
1.5final release, but it would be awefully nice to hafve it
fixed.

same problem here. Could the encryption really hinder the
speeds that much?

I agree... I noticed that the download and the upload speed
is quite low: why? It's necessary to optimize the transfer rate.
