Joining a channel on startup doesn't merge it in
properly with the other users (pre-connection to the
network). It registers when the person leaves though,
even though they don't show up in the name list. If
they say something in the channel, they immediately appear.

Just wish to confirm that I too am having this problem. Until
the user types a message within the auto-joined chat room,
neither that user can see the other users or vice-a-verser.
But once the user submits something into the chat room then
the chat room functions as normal (except that no joining
message is ever visable, either when the user did join the
room or when he submits his first message).

    The order of events.
    1. Waste starts
    2. User auto-joins chat room, chat window appears
    3. User connects to mesh network
    4. User submits message to chat room

    If event 2 & 3 could be swapped :)

I too experience this problem, in addition to users not
being removed from channels even when they have been removed
from the main userlist due to a timeout. The users will
remain in the channel's user list until I send a message to
the channel; a minute later or so they timeout and "may have
left". I have also noticed that sometimes friends will
close WASTE without leaving the channels first, which also
    causes the same ghosting.

I also seem to have a problem where if I join an existing
populated channel, I will not see conversations unless I send
    an initial message.
