Just a note: if you're using LXC or docker containers, the host OS shouldn't matter. Ultimately, the overlay filesystem differences should handle all the niggly bits. So, packaging head/devel won't exist any more when these are working. I'ld choose to use those to deploy instead of a package manager if you have the disk space to spare.
