The idea of vnl (or actually: vnl/algo) is to provide C++ interfaces for several LAPACK (and other netlib packages like LINPACK, MINPACK, EISPACK, ...) algorithm implementations. Instead of reimplementing things, the original LAPACK source code is used (see v3p/netlib) and called from the vnl/algo interface implementation. It seems that SGELSS (and DGELSS) were not yet considered for inclusion. But it fits nicely in what there is already, so if you would like to get a go at writing such a C++ interface we will be happy to include it into vnl/algo. (v3p/netlib contains already most of the utility functions used by SGELSS, like e.g. ILAENV. Others may have to be added to v3p/netlib if not already there. Source code for these can be found at http://netlib.belllabs.com/netlib/master/readme.html) Peter.
