I am using CMake. This is what it generated. Is it maybe a vs2005 issue? I could try installing 2003 i guess...

Yes, because something like

> #define VXL_HAS_BYTE 0

means your platform doesn't have a 8-bit integer type. If that is indeed the
case, you're going to have a lot of trouble compiling and using VXL.

If you are not using CMake, note that you can provide the appropriate values
