Hello, A- I am trying to import our dspace information into VuFind and can't really find any easy-to-follow instructions on how to do it. I think I need help on how to set up my oai.ini file. If anyone else has been able to do this, some tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks - Library Mark |

The general steps are: 1.) Set up oai.ini with appropriate values. The comments in the file itself should offer some guidance, but if you get stuck, feel free to post your settings here and we can help you with troubleshooting. 2.) Run the harvest tool -- php harvest_oai.php from inside VuFind's harvest directory. 3.) Configure dspace import by editing import/dspace.properties (you'll probably want to customize the settings used for faceting). 4.) Run the batch XML import script found in VuFind's harvest directory (./batch-import-xsl [OAI harvest directory name] dspace.properties) This wiki page may also be useful: http://vufind.org/wiki/importing_records#xml_records I hope that's all helpful, but if you still have questions, let us know what is confusing you and we'll do our best to clarify! - Demian ________________________________________ From: Mark Ehle [mar...@gm...] Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 8:43 AM To: vuf...@li... Hi Paolo, I can't think of anyone using DSpace & VuFind, but I may be wrong. From memory, Colarado Statue University use Vufind to expose their Digital Repository (digitool from Exlibris), Auburn University use it with OCLC's ContentDM repository (we do this at the National Library of Ireland too, but it isn't live yet), & Greg Pendelbury in USQ is working with Vufind & Fedora/Fascinator. Reuben frorm Auburn University recently posted a blog about his work with harvesting metadata into Vufind using OAI-PMH: http://au-reuben.blogspot.com/2010/05/20100512-14-oai-harvest-to-vufind.html Are there any specific areas you need help with? Hi Sean, we simply harvested the DC metadata from Dspace, xslt transform to marcxml then index with solrmarc. This *was* how we did it. With the upcoming release of VuFind 1.0, there will be support for metadata other than marc, so we look forward to being able to index Dspace DC metadata directly and use the RecordDriver approach for displaying the records.
