The polls have closed for the VuFind admin election, and the results are in. Looks like the 2009-2010 admins are:
Chris Delis, Software Developer, Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI)
Bill Dueber, Systems Librarian, University Library, University of Michigan
Demian Katz, Library Technology Development Specialist, Villanova University
Till Kinstler, Digital Libraries Systems Architect and Developer, GBV Common Library Network
Andrew Nagy, Senior Discovery Services Engineer, Serials Solutions
Tuan Nguyen, Manager Library Information Systems, York University Libraries
Eoghan Ó Carragáin, Digital Systems Officer, National Library of Ireland
Thanks to everyone who participated, either by volunteering for an admin position or by voting. I have updated the Wiki page to reflect the election results:
I am leaving all the skill surveys in place as well as the list of volunteers who were not elected. This information should be useful for next year's election, or if we need to find a replacement for an admin who decides to step down for some reason.
I am pleased that we have a diverse selection of institutions represented, though it is not lost on me that the election has favored developers over those who offered different skill sets to the mix. I hope this is not too great of a disappointment to anyone; for my part, I am very interested in hearing other perspectives in the admin discussions, so I hope you will continue to participate regardless of formal voting power. This first year is an experiment -- I'm open to adjusting the structure of the group to improve diversity in future years if it proves necessary... but for now, I think we're still small enough to get things done without too much formality.
Now we'd better get to work. I'll be posting some thoughts on next steps on the vufind-admins list later today. Feel free to get started without me if you're so inclined!
