I'd like to join in some of these meetings, but there are some technical impediments. Having tested in chrome and Firefox, it seems that Wimba is non-functional and officially "unsupported" on Ubuntu (12.10). I've tried some forum-posted workarounds from 2010 without success. The error is: Wimba Classroom v6.2.2-a.b (error 294) Video Capture Scanning Error Fatal error encountered while scanning for video capture devices Strangely enough that occurs first during the audio-test portion of the self-check. Besides running wine/windows (sorta ridiculous for devs of a primarily linux-deployed app.), has anybody else been able to get wimba running on a modern-ish 64-bit linux? If not, can we consider some alternative technologies for conferencing? --joe |
