Hm, drat.  That's quite strange.  Given that they're still being sorted
after everything else, I'm imagining my diacritic removal isn't working
as I'd expected.

Would it be possible to extract a list of your sorted titles using a
command like this?:

  cd /usr/local/vufind/import

  java -Dbibleech=StoredFieldLeech -Dsortfield=title_sort  \
       -Dvaluefield=title_fullStr -Dfile.encoding="UTF-8"  \
       -Dfield.preferred=heading -Dfield.insteadof=use_for \
       -cp browse-indexing.jar PrintBrowseHeadings         \
       "../solr/biblio/index" "title_fullStr" "title.tmp"

  gzip title.tmp


and, if it's not too large, send me the resulting "title.tmp.gz" file?
That should show how the sort keys are being calculated, and will
hopefully gives some clues about what's going on here.  Sorry I don't
have anything more definite just yet.
