On a similar note, I personally have had to create my own local modifications to solrmarc. I suspect that I will need to do so in the future too. That means, for me -- or anyone else wishing to do customized tweaks -- it probably makes sense to use solrmarc independently (i.e., not use the one in the vufind distribution). I do agree that it's nice that solrmarc is prepackaged with vufind since many (most?) schools may not need to make local mods and will happily forgo the extra step of using solrmarc independently.
