Sounds like there is a problem with your MySQL database -- either it didn't get created correctly by the install script, or the connection information in web/conf/config.ini is not correct.  Take a look at the [Database] section of config.ini -- if the problem is not obvious at a glance, you can set the "debug" setting in that section up to 5 to get more detailed information.
