Regarding the $B!H(Bhttpd: unrecognized service$B!I(B error: To check apache status in Ubuntu, use $B!H(Bservice apache2 status$B!I(B. In case it helps, there are links to version
and OS-specific documentation here: http://vufind.org/wiki/

Subject: Re: [VuFind-General] unable to access vufind on localhost
This error suggests that there is a problem with MySQL – either it is not running, the VuFind database has not been created, or the database credentials in
web/conf/config.ini$B!G(Bs [Database] section are incorrect. I would recommend checking all of those things. If you are still having problems, you can set the database debug value (in the [Database] section of config.ini) to 5 in order to see verbose log messages.
Feel free to share more details here if you are still stuck.
I recently installed vufind for testing, Everything went fine during installation.I did not change config.ini . But now when I try to access vuifnd which should be at http://localhost/vufind/ , the page displays "DB ERROR:connet failed", Insterestingly enough I can access solr at http://localhost:8080/solr/ . when I do ./vufind.sh start, I get something like:
Starting VuFind ...
/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java -server -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:NewRatio=5 -Dsolr.solr.home=/usr/local/vufind/solr -Djetty.logs=/usr/local/vufind/solr/jetty/logs -Djetty.home=/usr/local/vufind/solr/jetty -jar /usr/local/vufind/solr/jetty/start.jar /usr/local/vufind/solr/jetty/etc/jetty.xml
VuFind running pid=2491
nohup: appending output to `
the last line is "info: [biblio] Registered new searcher Searcher@10ca208 main"
then, I check Apache running status, like:
> service httpd status
> httpd: unrecognized service
and, in the Apache error log, I see:
[Tue Dec 11 19:04:49 2012] [notice] Apache/2.2.14 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.3.2-1ubuntu4.14 with Suhosin-Patch configured -- resuming normal operations
[Tue Dec 11 20:42:10 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico
[Tue Dec 11 20:42:13 2012] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/favicon.ico
Need I make any change to config.ini?
