So, one of the effects of having abandonned my 8 year old single-core,
1.5G ram laptop for a pair of multicore iX (one i3, one i7) desktops
(one at home, one at work. Generous use of sshfs and ipv6 makes me
forget where I am most of the time) is that the number of windows I have
open is way higher than before. Mostly this is because I never reboot,
while my laptop got restarted whenever it entered/left docking station.
So my icon manager which lives on the right handside of my screen,
regularly reaches from top to bottom of my screen.
I tried letting it be two columns, but actually, I don't really want
that all the time, just when it exceeds the height of the screen! And,
I only have a key for forward/backwards in the icon manager, I don't
care to have one for left/right, so if I have multiple columns, I'd
rather it just wrapped.
I also tried making the font smaller, but I didn't seem to succeed in
changing it at all, even:
ps: with two columns, I get mostly "Wo..." in the icon manager, which
isn't interesting since many windows are called WorkXXX. I wonder if
an option to right justify window titles would make sense?
Ideally, controlled by some Xresource actually.
pps: as an aside, is there anyway to *not* have the icon manager track the
window title? Often, I'd rather it said "Firefox FOO" rather than
the name of the web page I'm visiting, as I often have two or three
different browser profiles open...
Meanwhile, I do want it to track my Xemacs window title....
