** NOTE: In this version of vteddy, roles are limited to 2. This means that you can not create more than two roles. You can unlock this feature by purchasing the commercial version of the application. **


Behind the security system there are the Roles. Each role is based on one or more profiles. The administrator defines the operations allowed for different users and creates roles that reflect the company structure.

The usual steps are the following:

  1. Creation of profiles.
  2. Creation of roles, to which associate one or more profiles.
  3. Creation of users, to which associate a role.
  4. Editing of users/roles association based on company structure and needs.

Example of hierarchy: the sales manager (the highest role) sees his data and all the data of his subordinates; each subordinate can see only his own data (or the data of their whole group, if defined).


** How to create a new role? **

Once you have configured the profiles, you can create roles from Settings > Roles.

Create a new role through the button + near the higher role in the hierarchy. The new role will be a subordinate.

Then:

  • Enter a name for the role
  • Associate profiles to the role

Defining the role hierarchy makes an effect on the users involved, in terms of access to records (according to the rules explained in Sharing Access).
