I don't think it absolutely must be implemented by VTD
itself however. But it should be possible to integrate
something like Multi-Schema Validator, to validate VTD
trees (against W3C Schema, or Relax NG).

Likewise, this sounds like task for a schema
processing tool, and writing one is probably even more
work than writing efficient parsers. I think
separation of concerns is good.
