Mike, Are you getting anything back from the server? I mean, is the source of the page blank? If so, is there any useful output in your Apache error_log file? Smarty templates setup has been troublesome in the past. You need to make sure that your smarty_tpl_root, smarty_tpl_cache, and smarty_tpl_compile values (in the nessus_config table) are correct, and that the cache and compile directories are r/w by the webserver user. Cheers, -matt On Wed, Oct 05, 2005 at 07:03:04AM -0400, Michelangelo wrote: > I followed the installation steps suggested in the installation guide more > or less modifying the sql statementes and install.php. I followed the installation steps suggested in the installation guide more or less modifying the sql statementes and install.php. When I get passed step 3 of the config, the login pages appears to be blank. Maybe is something related to the configuration of the Smarty Templates? PLease help. -- Regards, Mike |

Chris, There are usually two possibilities for this problem. 1) VSC web interface expects to be accessed via https, and therefore sets the "secure" property on the session cookie it sets. The browser will only send these cookies when it uses https to talk to the web server. 2) the second is the PATH variable in the VSC configuration (section: _CONFIG). It should be set to the root of the VSC web interface relative to the webserver URL. So, if you have the VSC installed such that it is accessed with the URL: https://myserver.su.cx/vsc-2.0/Main/index.html, you should set the PATH variable to '/vsc-2.0'. This is the path property set for the session cookie. You can set it to '/' which is the root, but it then means that the cookie will be sent to all applications running on https://myserver.su.cx. (I apologize for the poorly chosen variable, it should be cookie_path, but its a framework legacy thing I never got around to changing). Hope this helps! -matt On Fri, Sep 30, 2005 at 02:28:18PM -0500, Chris Mielke wrote: > I removed the 'DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1' from the table creation statements, but still had problems. Chris, I think if you remove 'DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1' from those table creation statements, you won't see the problem. I use both MySQL 4.0 and MySQL 4.1 for our dev and production instances here at Purdue, and I believe I even had to remove those properties for MySQL 4.0.x. Hope this helps. I am running into a problem while going through the VSC 2.0 installation process. When I point my web browser to the Install/install.php script everything checks out "ok" on the initial page. However, when I click next and the database tries to load I receive a long list of errors similar to this: Loading new table: Host You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1' at line 15 error stmt: CREATE TABLE `Host` ( `hostid` int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment, `dns_name` varchar(255) default NULL, `address` varchar(15) NOT NULL default '', `mac_address` varchar(50) default NULL, `location` tinytext, `serialnumber` varchar(50) default NULL, `otherid` varchar(50) default NULL, `hourly_cost` double default NULL, `family_id` int(11) default NULL, `smbname` varchar(50) default NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`hostid`), UNIQUE KEY `address` (`address`), KEY `dns_name` (`dns_name`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 The error is displayed when attempting to create all of the tables. The server I am using for the install is running RedHat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and MySQL 3.23, which was installed from rpms. Innodb is configured and set as the "default-table-type" in the my.cnf file. Any idea what I might have missed? Thanks, Chris |

My guess would be the the Apache server does not have mod_env enabled, because Setenv is the appropriate directive according to both Apache 1.x and Apache 2.x docs. When you issue the /path/to/httpd -L command, is mod_env.c listed as one of the compiled-in modules? -matt On Thu, Sep 01, 2005 at 10:45:30AM -0400, Rich Baker wrote: > I was having a .htaccess problem yesterday, but needed set AllowOverride to > allow .htaccess files.
