Hi, I’m TerryRed from the various VP groups and forums.
I tried out VPVR with my Rift... sadly SteamVR launches, but complains the program is unresponsive. I see the window appear...but there is barely any movement and nothing is visiable on the vr headset.
I tried using similar settings to your video as well. I tried both vpx 10.5 and vpx 10.6.
Future Pinball Bam Open VR works fine with the rift and my setup.
My cpu is 15 4670K, 16 GB ram, GTX 1080
Very surprising to see this. Great work. You should show the VPX team what you’ve done here. They would love it!
Tried VPVR with my Rift and same result. SteamVR launches, but complains the program is unresponsive. VRVP starts the table nut is very slow and there nothing is visible on the vr headset. VPX in VR is a dream come true, I hope you can fix this for the Rift and we can help testing etc..
Thanks for the feedback. Since Terry has the table on the screen, but not on the Rift, I assume something is going wrong when submitting the images to the VR Compositor (Player::RenderStereo). Have you already tested, if the performance is also that bad with the other Stereo modes and Stereo off?
Turns out the problem was vsync! I feel like a total noob! Turning off vsync in VPVR fixed the problem. It works!
Runs as good as expected considering what you are doing here.
Anything that uses reflective type surfaces dont look good...and lights that transmit don't show up... but this was to be expected.
Some tables like T2 G5K look really good.
Big thing is stereoscopic separation is minimal so you dont get the "depth" that you could.
That said...this is great and impressive work!
Hi Terry,
good to hear that it is working now. For the stereoscopic issue: I mixed up matrix multiplication. I already uploaded the new commit. The new build should be also available in a few minutes.
And I also disabled VSync when VR is enabled. I have the exact same behavior with the Vive when I enable Vsync. Can you check if the Stereo issue and the VSync issue are fixed for you?
Yes...both of those work great now. I now see the stereoscopic seperation, and vsyc has no effect. Great work!
