It is not a good idea. Passwords are not random enough to be used for direct
disk encryption.

As big as any other freebsd file, 2^64 bytes, AFAIK. There is no additional
restrictions.

Vncrypt works on 4-stable only. There is mdcrypt patch for current, i made
it about a year ago. There is reports that it works on 5.1-RELEASE.
