I just downloaded and installed "pyvnc2swf-0.8.2-setup.exe", but when I run it I get the error '10061, Connection refused'. I am running this on MS Vista, so first thought it might have to do with the authority issue, so changed the shortcut to run as admin, but still the same. This is with localhost:5900 and SWF(Shape) and the file is saved to an area which I definitely have rights to right to. Is vnc2swf trying to write to its program folder? Any hints on how to solve this would be very welcome. Thanks in advance Werner |

Hi,=0A=0AThe problem with losing frames is that pvnc2swf takes too much tim= e encoding the video.=0AThe recommended approach is to capture the screen u= sing either shape or vnc mode.=0AAfter the capture you should use "edit.py"= to enable compression and may change the encoding mode to video, if desire= d.=0A=0AChanging it to video is usually better when big areas of the screen= change frequently. It saves frame image differences only, but mouse movem= ents are treated as changes in the frame image instead of just saving the c= ursor position.=0AShape encoding is better when the screen doesn't change t= oo much or too often. It saves rectangular image areas of the screen that h= ave changed between frames. The mouse movements are encoded as changes in c= ursor position (few bytes needed) instead of changes in the image.=0ABut I = recommend trying both to check which one gets smaller. Hello, I tried to capture a Screen with vnc2swf. First I tried the encoding Shape, then my files gets very big. When I try video the files are getting smaller, but I have a lot of lost frames. Is there any way between, to capture ? It would be enough to capture with a framerate of 5 seconds. I also tried it but the filesizes are almost the same. Can I reduce the Filesize by reducing the Color Information in any way. Thanks Richard |

Okay... I need a little help compiling/installing your program. Can you link me to a step-be-step walkthrough of how to install this in Mac OS X 10.5? I would like to use it in GUI form if possible. Hi all, First of all, GREAT JOB !!! I use - pyvnc2swf 0.9.3 - Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) - Gnome - Vino In order to record and see the mouse pointer, I use the "-N" option and the "-m" (merge) option This last one - merge - is not documented in the oficial site. the line command is (to say the true it's a script): #!/bin/sh #--------------------------------------------------------------------------= ------------------------------- ./pyvnc2swf/vnc2swf.py -N -m -S "arecord -f cd ../my_voice.wav" -r 4 -C 800x600+0+0 -nowindow -o ../my_video.swf localhost:0 #--------------------------------------------------------------------------= ------------------------------- To merge the video and sound I use these command inside a script (you ave t= o call it with one parameter which is the name of the resulting file): #!/bin/sh #--------------------------------------------------------------------------= ------------------------------- lame -m m -b 64 ../my_voice.wav ../my_voice.mp3 ./pyvnc2swf/edit.py -o ../$1.swf -a ../my_voice.mp3 ../my_video.swf rm -v ../my_video.swf rm -v ../my_video.html rm -v ../my_voice.wav rm -v ../my_voice.mp3 #--------------------------------------------------------------------------= ------------------------------- Hope this will help someone Thanks! --=20 > Pl=E1cido Andr=E9 Sousa http://placide.home.sapo.pt pla...@gm... .-. /v\ L I N U X // \\ >Phear the Penguin< /( )\ ^^-^^ |

Hi, I don't fully understand whats going on with the playback, but I use Firefox and I guess the built-in plugin (I don't remember installing anything special, but while my memory is good, it is short). When loading the .html as a local file, it is not possible to control the slider -- I forget the message, but it starts something like "Adobe player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation" and then it complains about trying to communicate with a server, which I'm not. However, when served through a server (such as my local apache server, or the campus WebCT server), the slider does seem to work. cheers nh -- Neal Holtz http://cee.carleton.ca/~nholtz Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1S 5B6. nh...@do... |

Don't know if this is your problem, but I had a similar problem last semester with lectures. It was explained to me on this list: "The issue is due to the size limitation of swf files. An swf file can have a maximum of 16,000 frames. vnc2swf records at 12 frames per second. The math for 12 frames per seconds equals about 22mins of recording time before you hit the max. see this link for more information: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14437" I was only getting 22 minutes so it might be that it is a different problem; or, perhaps, you are recording at a different number of frames per second? Hi, This is highly unlikely to be the "fault" of "pyvncswf", but I mention it here for the record --- Starting OpenOffice 2.3 seems to make the sound recording stop (either arecord or rec). If I first start my recording session, then start OpenOffice, during the very last second or two of the fairly long startup time, just when all the windows+ contents are finally being displayed, recording stops. The processes remain in the process list, but the .wav file stops growing. This seems to be repeatable. If I start OO first, then start recording, things usually work a lot better. cheers nh -- Neal Holtz http://cee.carleton.ca/~nholtz Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada K1S 5B6. nh...@do... |

Hi, I'm using pyvncswf (0.9.3) to record my normal lectures. I think its great, and the students seem to appreciate it as well. However, I have been experiencing some problems, and it might be fairly frequent (I'm not sure about that, yet). A normal lecture is about 80 minutes long. In yesterday's lecture, approximately 85% of the way through, the video stops playing (or being updated) but the audio continues to play. If you drag the slider forward (toward the right end), you see the video stills, but the audio does not play. I've documented this as much as I can at: http://holtz2.carleton.ca/swf/ If you can get a chance to look, I would much appreciate it. Of course, any other info you require, plaese ask. For instance - recorded on a Fujitsu tablet using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. - processed (edit.py) on Feisty Fawn.
