kind of good news - I am able to recreate it. it indeed crashes too yet the mpeg file of lenght 11126179 is produced.

This is on freshly installed Gusty with latest version pymedia cooked according to this pymdehttp://pythonide.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-to-install-pymedia-on-ubuntu-gutsy.html.

I will look into that.
