Clients running on Windows 10. Server on Windows 10 and Windows Server 2019. Mixture of different display devices but mostly Intel processor graphics of various generations.

Upgraded to 2.8.63 recently but discovered screen updates are much slower than previous versions even though the release notes say "improved fast screen grabbing".

It looks like it always waits for the whole screen to finish drawing before sending. So some applications with large areas of the screen refreshing, such as when first log on, or video conference programs will get huge lags. (I also get this kind of effect if I install the DFMirage driver with previous TightVNC versions.) Problem is only on the server side. Clients can be running 2.8.63 without issues but would prefer not to keep two versions.

Reverted to 2.8.59 and everything was fine. Help?

    Hi!

    It seems strange.
Could you send 2.8.63 loglevel 9 server log file to support@tightvnc.com ?

Never got a response, but now that 2.8.75 is out, I tested and it's still slow like 2.8.63, but I notice that if I disable the D3D option in the TightVNC server, when the entire screen refreshes (such as logon screen or lock screen, as mentioned above) it's super fast like 2.8.59, but small area like opening menus or drawing a window is slow as expected.

Trying to decide if I should continue to stay with 2.8.59 or force myself to get used to the new version.

Also, I also noticed today that the slow issue doesn't affect Windows 7. Windows 7 needs to have the screen polling cycle option changed to speed it up, but it otherwise doesn't suffer from the full screen lag issue.
