I had vnc setup on Mandrake 10.1 where I could use my normal monitor, mouse,
and keyboard. Anyway when I installed Mandriva 2006, the same setup up
doesn't work. The problem seems to be the vnc servers I setup in the
/etc/X11/xdm/Xservers file are not running (tested by trying to telnet to
ports 5993 and 5994). Here are the lines I added to this file.
# vncsession :93, using vncpassword from root.
:93 ROOTVNC local /usr/X11R6/bin/Xvnc -geometry 800x600 -depth 8 -rfbwait
120000 -rfbauth /root/.vnc/passwd :93
# vncsession :94, no vncpassword.
:94 FREEVNC local /usr/X11R6/bin/Xvnc -geometry 800x600 -depth 8 -rfbwait
120000 -alwaysshared -dontdisconnect :94
I have some other vnc sessions setup (not in this file) that work like
before except for one thing. One I don't get the options to restart or
shutdown the computer. I only get the option to end my session. Two I
don't have the normal login icons when the system comes up. I get a box to
put in a username and password.
I am trying to get these sessions running because they will stay active even
when I close the vnc viewer.
Does someone know how to fix these problems?
If not, does anyone know the correct logs to check to try to troubleshoot
