No, if you get a blank screen it sounds like it's working. You probably need a windows manager. in your ~/.vnc/xstartup script; start your WM from there. This is mine, I run icewm: #!/bin/sh xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid rgb:0/0/0 icewm Just replace icewm with your WM. For kde it's: startkde. I forget how to start gnome.
