I was able to get Musescore and VMPK to play nicely, however … when I have more than one part in the score, vmpk is only showing keys for the first part, and not the second. Because Musescore is doing the synth sound, i can hear the second part, but not see it on the piano. Part being left/right hands.

You are probably using different MIDI channels for the left and the right hand parts. VMPK displays the events received in the currently selected MIDI channel only, which is the same MIDI channel used for VMPK generated output events.
