#11 vs-test-gpus succeeds even if X server startup failed

We installed a barebones Ubuntu server with X server. The X server installation can't be treated to be very good at this point. Tried vs-test-gpus, with the following result:

Test PASSED - the 1 GPUs are usable.

Clearly, the X server didn't start properly. However, the test succeeded. This needs to be investigated.
