Vitalnix User Management Suite / News: Recent posts

So, what's really going on behind the 1.0.30.0 release? Well that's it:
* the ACCDB API in 1.0.30.0 has been modified a little as to allow so-called sub-modules. (I'll soon get there again)
* I am working on an ACCDB Perl layer, which is that you could write a backend in Perl, for the crazy. For this to accomplish, one needs sub-modules. Remember the -M option from the sysprogs? -> useradd -M perl:/shadow.pl ..., which loads accdb_perl.so (which in turn has to load shadow.pl).
* in between, Solar Designer released crypt-blowfish 0.4.6 (:additional compiling options), which is included in 1.0.30.0
* the actual CUI (=graphical textmode) for C-Spark is in planning stage
* someone go and find me a portable *printf() which can handle %1$s positional parameters!... read more

Vitalnix is a User Management Suite. It aims to provide a unified API for user administration (`useradd`, etc.) and can be extended by back-end modules which support a particular DB (passwd, LDAP). For short: a faster getpw*() replacement, but also for Windows.

Lots of new code has been added to C-Spark, namingly Autorun Mode ("Daemon Mode", for use in non-interactive shell scripts), Password List Printing (in TXT, HTML, RTF, and partially Latex). Compiling and running on Win32/MinGW works fine, but msvcrt.dll is missing a very important feature.... read more

Vitalnix is a User Management Suite, complete with a user database framework and ACCDB-capable tools. The ACCDB framework provides a unified API to all outside applications which wish to access the user database (i.e. /etc/passwd, LDAP, etc.). It also comes with a console UI (early stage) for admistrating users/groups, also capable of handling users in batch.
