Seeing as comments were solicited ... ;-)
I presently use labels for instructions and as trial-markers in a research
setting. For my purposes, therefore, it's necessary to have the current
funcitonality (i.e., to always have labels appear on top of the scene). As
for which behavior is more appropriate generally, I won't guess. I might
suggest, however, that the label object have options with default behavior
(which default wouldn't matter to me).
