As I said in a previous note, after upgrading to Ubuntu 7.10 from an 
earlier version, I successfully installed python-visual using the 
package manager but found it to be 3.1.1. I tried to build Visual 3.2.9 
from the source package available at vpython.org, but that failes with a 
problem with pkg-config for gtk+; the error message is "sh:
gtk-config: not found", which I don't understand.

Next I tried building the beta version from sourceforge. I found I had 
to use the package manager to install libboost python and thread dev 
packages, after which I was able to build and run the beta version.
