I've given it a spin last year. At that time it was a spinoff of the VPython
3.x API. Due to the fact that Mayavi2 is very powerful in its features,
VPython has to deal with less overhead, and is quite a lot more performant for
great numbers of individual objects. Also there were quite a few glitches in
the implementation. But of course, it was usable for many/certain cases.
I've given a talk and written about it (among other things) at the last Kiwi
PyCon last November.
