So yeah. There are *always* going to be issues with installing my alien'd
RPMs. They are *not* really redhat packages. The area where this comes up
most evidently is that they are linked against libraries with Debian naming
conventions -- which frequently don't line up with the RH names. What's
more, they are not aligned for any particular RH version. So it's a crap
shoot as to whether they will work.
Really to get this right I just bloody need to compile the thing and build a
package on an RH system. Not hard. I just don't have the time to do it (and
won't for some time-- after Kernel comes File System ...).
Andersen, if you could look into building RPMs (I'm sure there's
documentation on how to do it, and it's not like I know how to do it) it
would ease my conscience some :)
