VPython has been installed in one of our computer labs but our IT guys used TQCrunas. At least it seems to be running properly. Last night I created a Moveable Python CD on my XP box as home as per instructions previously posted here. The CD seemed to work correctly at home. I brought it to work today and discovered that the computers in our computer labs have the CD drives locked down and therefore will not recognize CDs. (Can anyone explain the logic buying reasonably functional computers and then locking them down so they can't be used in computer literacy courses?) So now I won't be able to provide my students with quick VPython updates. When I try running IDLE from the CD in my Win2k box at work, I get the following error message: E:\movpy-0.4.6-2.4-standard\movpy\movpyw.exe.log could not be opened: permission denied It's attempting to open a file on the CD but this didn't happen on the XP box at home. What accounts for the difference? Now, when I try to run IDLE from the CD on a computer in my regular classroom (in which the CD drives are enabled for use by my astronomy classes), I get no error messages at all but nothing executes. I've no idea what to look for to fix the problem. I've tried everything labeled "IDLE" that I could find and no luck. What would I need to do to execute the VPython version of IDLE (IDLE Fork?) on the CD? Joe Heafner heafnerj(at)ctc(dot)net |
