Many thanks for the detailed feedback -- it's just the kind of data we need
to improve the installer. One thing seems quite odd: You couldn't install
gtkglarea, which is needed, yet you eventually managed to compile anyway. I
wouldn't have thought that mesa would include the missing piece....
