scene.show() and scene.hide() don't seem to be documented but apparently are equivalent to setting scene.visible to 1 or 0. However, as Glen Rivard points out, making the window visible doesn't bring it to the front. For flexibility, we probably should separate the two issues; there should be a way to bring the window to the front, and there doesn't seem to be one at the moment.
