I don't quite understand all the comments about NVIDIA. The
fundamental problem on my Ubuntu 12.04 is that (apparently) an
automatic update to the Boost libraries yanked away the version that I
had used when building VPython on my machine. It was only after
rebuilding with the newer Boost libraries that I got what was actually
a rather clear message about a problem with NVIDIA software.
