I think what you want is scene.center = vector(0,1,3) # or simply (0,1,3), which will be converted to a vector scene.forward = scene.center-vector(0,4,-6) Since you're familiar with Povray, you might be interested in the VPython-to-Povray converter available in the contributed section of vpython.org.
